Papa's Sauce and Meatballs

Like many handed down recipes, the amounts are not exact and can be adjusted to your liking.  This is the sauce we had almost every Sunday growing up :) The aroma of a sauce on Sunday will forever remind me of my parents house.

Sauce
3- 28 oz cans of crushed tomatoes (or 2 crushed and 1 diced)
2 6 oz cans of tomato paste
between 14 and 20 oz water (depending on how thick you want sauce)
Basil
Oregano
Garlic- fresh minced
Onion- fresh minced

Saute onion and garlic with olive oil
combine all ingredients in crock pot or pot on stove

Meatballs
Chopped Meat
1 egg per pound of chopped meat
salt
pepper
a lot of breadcrumbs
Locatelli or Parmesean cheese

Mix all ingredients together with hands and form balls
Place balls in sauce and cook (cook for 3 hours- begin timing the 3 hours once sauce is boiling)
OR Broil meatballs for 5 minutes on an oiled baking sheet, turn meatballs over and broil for another 5 minutes
