Apple Cream Coffee Cake

This is a delicious fall treat from Taste of Home Cooking
Prep time: 20 min   Bake: 40 min + cooling

-1/2 cup butter, softened
-1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
-2 eggs
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-2 cups all purpose flour
-1 tsp baking powder
-1/2 tsp baking soda
-1/2 tsp salt
-1 cup (8oz) sour cream
-1/2 cup chopped walnuts
-2 tsp ground cinnamon
-1 medium apple, peeled and thinly sliced

1) Preheat oven to 375
2) In a large bowl, cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.Blend in vanilla.
2) In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
3) Add dry mixture to creamed mixture, alternating with sour cream, beating well after each addition.
7) In a small bowl combine nuts, cinnamon, and remaining sugar.
8) Spread half the batter in a well greased 10 in springform pan (pan with a removable bottom).
9) Top with apple slice and sprinkle with half of the nut mixture.
10) Top with remaining batter, then remaining nut mixture on the very top.
11) Bake at 375 for 40-45 minutes (until tooothpick comes out clean.)
12) Cool in pan for 30 minutes.
13) Run knife along edge of pan to loosen and remove side of pan.  When completely cool, remove from bottom pan.
